Today I had my first real brush with a cop. Two cops to be exact. Both had their own car.
You may be wondering what a saintly child like me was doing in that sort of trouble. Well have I got an interesting story for you!
The day began normally. I woke up, had my coffee, and ate my breakfast. 12:15 was our band rehearsal for our church band, Never Too Young.(we will be playing on March 3)
Frequently, we rehearse at the PC (the place we will be playing at) and that was the plan for today. Unfortunately, we sort of accidentally broke into the PC. Well, as you can imagine the alarm went off. Or rather, several alarms went off.
This was not, however, the first time we have sent the alarms blaring. It must have been a slow day for the cops, cause it took at least 15 minutes for them to arrive, if not 20. First, a gray cruiser pulled up, the guy inside was wearing black sunglasses. "You guys tried goin' in?" he asked us. Tim quickly explained that we were supposed to be rehearsing here, and that the owner of the place was on her way to shut off the alarms. "Yeah, I know, I recognize you guys. I come to church here," He told us. That was a big relief.
While we were talking a second cruiser drove up, this one with the big words POLICE written across the side. The first guy who had talked to us turned his car around and drove over to the new officer. A couple minutes later they drove off.
Meanwhile, Mat our drummer was explaining, that because this was a church-owned building, we shouldn't need alarms. We have God.
In the end we weren't really in trouble. I guess we got lucky when a police dude who actually goes to our church turned up. I like to tell the other memebers of the band that since we have broken in so many times, by the time we go of to college, we'll be wanted felons.
How's that for the first day of February vacation?
